Questions & Answers

I'm running a ATI X1900 512Mb on my MacPro 2.66 2006 (Woodcrest) it has taken a acid trip and needs replacing...will this do as a replacement.?

I have lines running through my screen and it distorts sections of the screen,
i have changed the monitor to another computer and it seems to work fine.
So in my conclusion i would suggest the videocard is at fault, so i need a repalcement ..and this is the one i would like to get..so will this work on my machine?

Xeon 2.66 (woodcrest)
1.33 Bus
Production 2006

  • I feel that unless CAD is all you do the best card you can get made by Apple & has no matter what is said will work in your Mac Pro (I am on a older Mac Pro with a 4870 typing to you now) You will need to keep you power cable from your X 1900 XT & use the one that comes with the 4870 it dose use both of your power cords but is well worth it PCIE 1.1 like in your Mac is still faster then the card so you will like the upgrade in the Mac Pro 1,1 & 2,1 (2006 & 2007) Is the ATI Radeon HD 4870 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro it works in you Mac you might just to be safe want to try the ATI X1900 XT in the other computer as well, so you are 100% it's not the PCIE slot or Motherboard. I think your right it sounds like the old card so you can always return the ATI Radeon HD 4870 if it dose not fix your problem. I have the 1900 XT , 8800GT & 4870 as well the 4870 is the best hands down.
    Hope I was of help,
    Tom
