Does this really work with iPod 3rd generation (as stated)? This model as I understand it can only be charged by a Firewire (to dock connector) cable

The 3rd generation iPod has a dock connector, and data can be transferred either by USB or Firewire. However, attempting to charge this type of iPod via USB does not work (as it explains in the manual). What's special (i.e. different from a regular mains charger) about this kit?

  • The white brick has a firewire (female) instead of a USB (female) like the current model. These adaptors just change the configuration on the brick-to-wall junction and will work with either USB or firewire. So basically it will work.
