Does the software update come with the Magic Mouse, or must it be downloaded? I have a one year old IMac with duo processors and run Snow Leopard.

When you hook up your Magic Mouse for the first time you will be prompted that there is new software available for your mouse. You then follow the standard Apple Updater which will download the software to your computer.

At the present time (as of today) the update is no where to be found on the apple site or by using Apple Update. I am running 10.62 and did not get an update for the mouse. I guess we all will have to wait until Apple gets this figured out. Meanwhile my Magic Mouse is spell-less.

You have to get the latest wireless mouse update first in Software Update in the apple menu. The update does not come with the Magic Mouse.

It does require a software update in order to obtain all the feature.(if u choose not to only the standard(no-multi-touch) feature would work) You should be able to download through the update/ MAC webpage in no time.

Also, 10.6.2 for Snow Leopard, and the next update for Leopard will include this. For now, you can install the mouse separately. If it doesn't show in update (it didn't for me) go to Apples downloads section and download.

it'll work on any version of mac os x that is greated then 10.5.8. therefore it'll work automatically with snow leopard. if you have a lower version than 10.5.8 but have leopard, use "software update" under the apple logo menu in the menubar. if you have a version of osx lower than 10.5, you'll have to purchase either leopard (powerpc users) or snow leopard (intel users).

Apple will be sending a Wireless Mouse update that will include the preference pane update. The disc in the packaging will likely include that same update.
