Yes, I have the 24 inch 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 1 GB SDRAM and works perfect, just be prepared to update the most software when pairing the mouse. That tripped me up for a sec....until I read the instructions.

If the iMac has Bluetooth capabilities running Mac OSX 10.5.8 or later with the latest version of the

As long as said iMac has the latest (10.5.8) update for Snow Leopard and the update for Bluetooth then it will work on your previous model iMac.

I am currently using a magic mouse on the first ever iMac with Intel from 2006, and on the first Aluminum iMac from Sept of 2007.

Yes you can; as long as it's MAC OSX 10.5.8 or later. Mine is the previous version IMAC and this baby synced without a hitch.

Yes, should be. As long as you have BlueTooth and a fully patched Leopard (10.5.8) or Snow Leopard.
