i am in the market for a mac book pro. When the battery starts to lose power,do buy a new battery and have it installed at the apple store?

You certainly could... However replacing the batter in a Macbook Pro Unibody is as easy as brushing your teeth. There is a flip lever on the bottom which will let you remove a batter cover plate, under which is the battery. Just pull the plastic tab on the batter and drop the new one in and click the cover closed.
You probably should power down the laptop to change the battery but if your connected to a power cable then you could do it even without powering down.- Answered by Joshaven P from Hillsdale
