Does the Mini DisplayPort support analog video and if so can I use the Mini DisplayPort to Dual Link DVI with a DVI to VGA adapter

yes. be sure you need the mini displayport - dual link dvi adapter though -- if you're connecting to a TV then the resolution you're shooting for is actually ~1080x1920, for which a mini displayport - vga adapter will work just fine. the dual link adapter is for if you need resolutions Higher than 1200 x 1920, which TV's don't have (that would make them 1200i or 1200p !)
