You'll require a Mini-VGA to VGA adapter to connect an external display. iBooks can't display a second desktop on another monitor, merely mirror the internal display. Search the Apple Store for M8639G/A. Note that DVI is not supported by the iBook either.

No sorry it will only work on Macbooks with no Firewire, new MacBookPros, and new Mac Minis
