I have an imac and want to connect it to my hdtv, what do i need to get picture and sound?

if you have the newest imac, all you need is a mini display port to dvi, then a dvi to hdmi cable (i prefer monster), finally run a separate audio cable (1/4 inch to 1/4 inch male to male) from the audio out on the imac to the audio in on the hdtv

The Apple Store sells a one cable solution made by Kanex. It's simply called Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable.
