We have a apple ipod speaker A1121. Can we use the adapter to use and charge the Iphone on this speaker?

The Iphone 3G(S) (if that is the case) won't charge on the Ipod Speaker because it's done through Firewire, rather than USB charging that the Iphone wants to have
