Can I use this cable to plug my iPhone 3GS into a standard definition TV?

I am pretty sure the answer is no. It appears that all the current iPhone/iPod devices output 480p (progressive) to the Component outputs. Most standard definition TV's only accept 480i (interlaced) signals. This mismatch (sending a 480p signal to a 480i TV) causes the video signal to appear 'scrambled' on your TV. The Composite cable should work fine.

I returned mine. It did not work with my iPhone 3GS. It did work with my wife´s 3G, though.

If you don't have green, blue,red inputs then just get the composite cable set Red/White and Yellow

Yes, as long as that standard definition TV has component jacks. Most of them do, but I would check first

If your T.V. does'nt have the correct AV jacks you can always get an RF modulator. It basically converts channel 3 or 4 into AV channels.
