Is this memory module compatible with iMac? If it is, how do you install it?
I have a 1st generation iMac (Summer 2007) and it has 1GB of memory, I'd like to upgrade it to either 4GB or 2GB.

Yes, and you can install it yourself. I installed (2) of these with ease. There are no "APPLE STORES" within driving range of my location.
