If my macbook is loading very slowly do I need a new battery?

nope. the battery doesn't affect overall performance. what you should do: turn on your computer while holding down the command key. it'll boot it up in "utility mode", basically. go to the disk utility, click "repair disk". after that's done, click "repair disk permissions". that should at least help a little bit.
