I know that it will charge my laptop but is it bad for my battery or computer to use the 85w instead of 60w?

Yes you can.
The difference in Wattage has only to do with the load the power supply can handle. So your black MacBook uses maximum 60W , that means that the power supply of 85W, in theory, will work better for itself, since will not work in its limits.- Answered by Georgios A
