The sensor works with the 3rd and 2nd GEN ipod touch only!! It is not compatible with the 1st GEN!!!

Yes! Go into your settings, scroll down almost to the very bottom, you should see the listing for Nike + iPod, open up the window there and you have to turn it on! Then the icon will appear in one of the pages of your iTouch.
