does this product work with non-Nike shoes? Can the sensor "fit" in a non-Nike shoe?

Yes, you can just put it in your laces of any shoe. I bought a little pouch for about £8 from a general sports shop, that the sensor fits into. The pouch goes into your laces so that you don't have to worry about the sensor falling out.
