Which adapter would be alternative to this one in the case of the macbook from mid 2009?

A Mid-2009 MacBook uses the new Mini DisplayPort and Apple offers a few adapters that will work. The adapters that would work are Apple's "Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter" or their "Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter"
