What cable connects a MacBook pro to a projector for presentations

The answer will depend upon the version of your MacBook Pro and the available input on the projector.

    1. Determine which video out connector your MacBook Pro has. DVI was common until the recent change to the Mini-Displayport.

    2. Determine the input options on the projector. Most every projector does VGA. Some also do DVI.

    3. Purchase the correct adapter from the Apple Store for your Mac and your projector. For example on my MacBook Pro and with my projector that supports DVI, I bought a DVI to DVI extension cable. For my MacBook Air and the projectors I encounter while on the road, I bought the Mini DVI to VGA adapter for the MacBook air and a VGA to VGA extension cable to connect to most any projector.
