Apple Cinema HD Display (30" flat panel)

if i plugged my Laptop with the HD display, can i still use the HD display to display something else differen from what`s in the laptop screen?

  • Yes, assuming it's a Mac, your laptop will extend your desktop onto the secondary display and you will have dual monitors. In System Preferences you can change the secondary display to mirror your primary screen as well, if needed.
    Better yet, when you close the lid on your laptop with a separate display still plugged into the display port, it will turn the outside monitor into the primary display and shut off the laptop's screen, keeping the OS from sleeping. You will however need to plug in an external mouse and keyboard to use, because the lid is closed. Your Laptop becomes a Desktop.
