Will this adapter work with my Apple A1038 20" Cinema display and my Macbook Pro4 laptop?

It will if your MacBook Pro has a DVI interface. If it has the newer Mini DisplayPort interface, I think you'll need a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter ($29 here at the Apple Store) in addition to this DVI to ADC adapter.
