What do you do when you have multiple thermostats in a house?
I have an upstairs and a downstairs. How do they work together? Do you buy two and do they interface somehow?

You would buy one for each zone. They both get registered with your Nest account, and can both be controlled both via the web interface and within the iOS apps. They will automatically communicate with each other to sync information like auto-away status.
More information about multiple thermostats can be found on the Nest website under Support > Remote access > Managing multiple Nest Learning Thermostats with one Nest Account- Answered by Stephen B from Santa Cruz

You don't have to buy two. However, if you do, they can both be controlled from the app and coordinate with each other on "auto-away".
