Would my iTunes work if I moved all music/movie files to this harddrive? I'm completely out of space on my Macbook Pro & am looking for alternatives.

Answer
Yes. Follow instructions within iTunes for moving your Library to an external drive.
Of course, you will only be able to listen to your music or podcasts, or view your videos when drive is connected and available.
A better method is to give some consideration to move some of your less frequently needed documents to the external drive.- Answered by Mike M from Beaverton

Yes @Katie, as I'm considering doing the same thing for my MBA.
I'm planning to move both iTunes and iPhoto to an external drive. I posed an earlier question as to whether to go for the USB3.0 version or the Thuderbolt version BUT (and this is mycase/question) the disk limitation (5400rpm) means that you may be paying over the odds for the Thunderbolt version. However, I haven't received any confirmation but I'm fairly sure, from my research, that's the case, tha Thunderbold may ultra fast but the disk speed will be a bottleneck - at this point in time.
LaCie do a 500GB that spins at 7200rpm, pity they don't have a 1TB, as I need all the space.
In summary, yes the 5400 1TB or the 500GB 7200rpm disk will do just fine for your requirements. Just make sure you dont go below the USB3.0 model!
