Is this time machine ready? Also what is the difference between this one and the "SSD" version?

"Time Machine Ready" simply means that the drive is formatted as Mac OS Extended and connects to your computer's FireWire, USB, or Thunderbolt port.
Since this drive can connect via USB3, USB2, or Thunderbolt, and is formatted for the Mac, then yes, it is Time Machine Ready.

SSD stands for Solid State Drive (flash drive). A regular drive has moving parts, a Solid State Drive does not. It has long been used for portable memory (cameras, flash drives, cell phones, MacBook Air) because it is more stable and much faster (but more costly).
