Which portable hard drives will work with OS X 10.8.1. I like to keep a back up on my bank box.

I purchased a WD MY passport for mac 500 GB but it does not work

    Any drive you format as HFS should work with your Mac, provided you have the ports the drive needs (i.e. if you buy a drive with only Firewire 800 ports, you will need a Firewire 800 port on your Mac). If you have a recent (2012) Mac, then your best bet is probably to buy a USB 3.0 hard drive
