how powerful of a mac to you need to run parallels - I have a 4 year old MacBook pro and it constantly locked up and would not run well.
I was running a parallel program. My Mac kept locking up and it took forever to open windows. To put it bluntly - it messed up all that I love about the mac. Plus some of the programs would not run on Mac but would on Windows, and the reverse. I was constantly switching between the two and it really slowed down the entire computer. This decrease in speed was not just when switching programs but overall. Is there a solution?
FYI - I am using a MacBook - processor 2 GHz, Intel, Cor 2 Duo (? right lingo?)
Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3.
THANK YOU - getting ready to purchase for work and did not want to go all the way to PC again but cannot put up with / afford to expend the time with locking up and switching programs / slowing down.

I'm using a 5 year old IMAC with Mac OSX Version 10.7.5 running Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac version September 2011. It is working well and I have good integration between the two systems. I am using Windows Vista for the Windows applications and have been trying to find out whether upgrading to a new version of Parallels and a more modern Microsoft operating system will cause any problems with my old Microsoft programs I run.
Hope this helps.
