    There's no support for mouse pointer in iPads, so even if there was a trackpad, you would not be able to use it.

  • You use the iPad touchscreen as you would if no keyboard/mouse/trackpad were attached. So it's your finger (or a stylus if you use one) to position the cursor, select text etc. Personally I wouldn't want a mouse/trackpad with the iPad, it's to handhold and touch in my eyes, and I'm not using it for huge documents. But the keyboard is useful, even for the small bits of writing that I do on the move on the iPad, as I'm a touch typist and get a bit frustrated typing more than a sentence or two on the iPad screen.
