The setup process that comes with the disc allows you to partition the disc for use with PC, Mac or both with an easy slider scale.

You can if you format it in Disk Utility. A web search should give you step by step instructions. By formatting the drive to either Fat32 (more standard) or ExFat (my preference as it does not have a 4GB file size limit, but older computers cannot read it) you can use it back and forth between Mac and PC with no issues.
