does this drive use a software  interface like the Silverkeeper software on earlier editions of LaCie drives? Thanks

  • No SilverKeeper.

    If you are needing backup, you have several choices. The Time Machine capability built-in to OS X, or you can use the LaCie application bundled with the drive, Genie Backup.

    To use the drive for general file/folder storage for your documents, photos, and video files, no extra software is needed.
