Will the Klipsch Gallery G-17 Air AirPlay Spleakers connect to iPad via BlueTooth?  Alternatively, will it connect via AirPlay without a network?

    It uses AirPlay from the iPad, not Bluetooth. There is a wifi direct mode that can bypass a router (making a network unnecessary, similar to bluetooth) and it is explained at the Klipsch website. The direct wireless mode is pretty easy to engage and use. Hope this helps!
