Is there enough room for a text book or two?

Yes, there is plenty of space/compartments for the MBP, iPad, iPhone and probably one thick (3-4") textbook and a thinner (1-2") one. 4-5 books of normal reading material can easily fit in. I use it to carry my Apple gear, cables and power adapter, and books while traveling. I think it's a great combination of style, form and function, but its definitely on the higher end of the price range.
