yes, just as long as you do not turn your volume up to the max, but i suggest you check out other alternative if you plan to use them for sports or any rigid activities just because the wires are double coated with a thick plastic laminate (to prevent it from tangling)

They do isolate some sound but as long as you don't turn the volume all the way up you should be able to hear louder than average sounds around you.
