Would this charge the iPod Touch? How is it connected if it's on its side?

Yes, the LARK dock can supply charge to your iPod touch through a USB port located on the back of the dock. (You can use the USB cable that comes with the iPod touch to connect to the dock.)

I'm guessing you just plug it in using the cable that came with your ipod touch (or other device. It looks like the Lark only acts as a stand.
