does the software take the average of three readings?

Answer
The average will be displayed at the end of the three measurement. If you go to your graph and zoom enough on the 3 measurements, you'll be able to see each reading separately. If you unzoom, it will appear as the average.

Yes. This is an option, which you can easily set before each reading. Note that the built-in system defaults to singular, rather than 3/average, readings. So, you must be sure to change it each time you desire the 3/average readings.
