If I already have the FX4800 card, would it be wise to also put in a 4000 card. I am running a new 12 core and use FC Studio and CS5 AE a lot.

Probably not. Final Cut does not really take advantage of CUDA and not sure if a second gpu will help accelerate it. Regarding CS5, I don't think Adobe enabled it to be multi-gpu aware (at least yet)... But there are plug ins for (such as Kronos from the Foundry for AE) should be multi-gpu aware and can help speed up your workflow if you're using plug ins that are CUDA accelerated.
