  • I've owned both the HK Soundstick III and Bose Companion 5 and HK Soundstick III just can't compare with BC5. HK Soundstick III sounds puny while BC5's sound is much fuller and sweet. The BC5's sub is wonderful with an exciting "tremolo" I haven't heard from any other. I also have a Klipsh ProMedia 2.1 (Wireless) and just the same, cannot stand up to Bose Companion 5. I recently acquired an Airmotiv 4 and am still evaluating whether this one can hold its own.

  • The obvious difference is the way signal is imported to the 2 systems. Companion 5 has digital analog converter of its own. Therefore it obtains the digital signal from USB 2. The Soundsticks is connected to the analogue output of the soundcard in the desktop pc or the earphone/line out of the laptop. The pounding ability of the bass unit and the presentation of the mid and high will very much depend on the owners cup of tea.
