Is the Wearlink+ that comes with the Polar FT7 compatible with the nano5G or does it require this Wearlink+ with Nike+ logo?

No, you need the Polar Wearlink Nike + Strap, which is compatiable with the 5th Gen Nano and your FT7. The Wearlink Strap that comes with your Ft7 is only compatible with your Polar, where the Wearlink Nike + Strap comes with both Polar and Nike sensors inside.
