Can you use this just as regular backpack for school? Is it big enough to fit multiple books/notepads if there is no laptop in it?

Even with my 15" Macbook Pro in there, I can still fit 2 400 pg books, a legal sized paper tablet as well as a couple of magazines and even my power supply for the laptop and still have more room inside of the other pockets for random small items. If you didn't have a laptop in there, you could even slide a book inside of the little laptop sleeve area.

This pack can hold a lot, in my opinion.
