Do these locks prevent the laptop from opening?

I have a powerbook, G4, and I know it has been used and tampered with, and have been missing music I made as well as the music being changed. also, was running very funny and just know someone has been using it. Another question would be if i know have a mini, how can I secure her?

    From looking at the picture, I think the lock's main function is to make sure that the laptop isn't carried off by someone other than the owner. If you're worried about unauthorized usage, I'd suggest password protecting it, or finding a lock that wraps around the laptop.
