Yes it will work with a Mac Pro 1,1 but you must have an upgraded Graphics Card. ( ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB or ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB.) It will work just fine.

The display would work using Graphics card that has MiniDP such as GT120, AMD 5770, or AMD 5870.
