I have the same computer and it won't work if you try that.The tech is to old, you can buy yourself a PCI wireless N card and you'd be good to go.I have a current Mac Pro and the G5 side by side and my G5 is still hanging in there.So go out and get youself a 30-50 PCI wireless card and install it and you'd be good to go.I use my Dlink gaming router and it works like a champ.

I would recomend getting a new apple laptop that suits you. You can find cheaper laptops by searching in the search bar on the apple website " refurbished computers".
