Questions & Answers
I have a gmac and want to know how I can use with my wireless router? I think I need a airport card but its not clear what I need to do?
My wireless router works on my Apple laptop ok but the gMac is an older model and I want to know how I can set it up so I can use the wireless router on this machine also? I think I need an airport card, but I can't seem to find one on the store, nor am I clear if that's the solution or if I need anything else as well?
thanks

Your G5 is most likely only accepting G and your new router is most likely putting out N,You just need to make sure in your options, that your router will accept G&N, so as along as you have airport, or some kind of wireless card in your G5.You should be good to go, just take a look at your network settings and your LAN should show up and then choose it and your done..
good luck..- Answered by RM from ARLINGTON

I'll take a stab at this. I assume you have a G4 or G5 tower. If so, and if I remember correctly, the Airport cards were only available as part of a custom build at time of purchase directly from Apple. Your only option would be a third-party WiFi PCI card.
If you have a G4-5 based iMac, you should be able to add the Apple WiFi option if you can locate one. Apple is probably your only option to upgade an iMac to WiFi.
I hope that helps.- Answered by LM from Peachtree City
