It depends on what you mean by Unix files. Mac OS X is based on BSD Unix. Unix-format text files are the native format on Mac OS X. Mac OS X will not run binary programs from other Unix operating systems such as Linux or FreeBSD, unless you recompile them from the source code. Most other common file types such as images or audio used on other Unix systems will work on Mac OS X.
