Video/Photo Editing

Does anyone edit videos on a MacBook Pro? I'm thinking about getting the 15" Macbook Pro with a 2.4GHz i7 Processor and 8GB of RAM. I would be editing 1080p video shot on a Nikon d7000, and also using Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 4, and Dreamweaver. I would definitely install Windows 7 on it, as all of my software is on Windows, and I already have a copy of it. Would this laptop be enough for me to at least view the videos smoothly, and run a program like Corel VideoStudio pretty well? I would invest in a desktop, but as I'm in college and always moving around, I can't really get one because of its lack of portability. I currently have a PC with 6GB RAM and a 1.6GHz i7 Processor, I would think I would notice a significant difference.
