I need to back up files (mostly pics and videos) from a pc and a mac, what do you recommend?

This hard drive definitely, you can partition the drive into two separate ones. So one can be for the mac and one for the pc. If you have videos the thunderbolt option makes sense for thee mac side and this also supports usb 3 for the pc or mac.
