Are we talking about flash memory as in RAM or as in storage space? Either way, it depends on your needs.

In most usage conditions 4gb RAM is enough for people. If you do some media editing (Photoshop, Premiere, Logic etc) you may need 8gb RAM (or more, but 8gb is the limit for air.

In terms of storage, some people just get 128GB flash storage and then have an external hard drive to store all of their media and/or video games. Other people are willing to fork out the extra $$$ for the flash space.

It all really depends on your usage. If you have a bit more info, it'd be really helpful for us.
