Can I Use other displays other than a Thunderbolt Display with Mac Pro?
What sort of connections would be needed

Yes you can. With the new Mac Pro, it has a built in HDMI port on the back that could be used to plug in a display. Also, Thunderbolt ports double as MiniDisplay Ports, and therefore you can use any MiniDisplay Port adapter in the Thunderbolt port to make a VGA port or another HDMI port to connect more displays.
