Can I use a pair of ethernat mains adaptors in conjunction with the Time Capsule to extend the range to other rooms in the house?

  Yes. Powerline networking can have some problems though if there are "noisy" devices on the circuit such as appliances with motors or fluorescent lights. Also, both adapters should be on the same circuit if possible.
