Can anyone advise a computer-illiterate oldie which is the best Mac computer to buy if I am planning on using it for a medical transcription job?

I need a really good sound card not necessarily bass boost but a good equalizer that I can use noise-reduction earphones and a foot pedal with and adjust voice files as I need to.
