should i get an iphone4s/5 or ipad for facetime communication between UK and Jamaica

  It's totally up to you, if you want a good camera, then you want to go for the iPhone 5. If you don't mind the clarity of the picture you'll see then the iPhone 4S would be suitable.
  
  But the extra 0.5" screen is also a good extra.
