• Not if only using the Wifi for wireless connection. You can now get data plans with no contracts or prepaid amount of GB on a card. Get the wifi with 3G best there is. I use mine with no SIM card in it but can go cellular if want. Can not add on the 3G feature later . I have a 64GB. Wi fi 3G. Unlocked love it!!
