How far off shore will the iPad pick up a signal. Want to use Nav app for course plotting on my sailboat.

    I would research the cellular tower coverage maps before your trip, or spring for a satelite internet router for across ocean voyages. personally ive found that most land locked lakes have cell service but i figure thats not where your sailing.

    if i had to guess id say you have at most 10 miles of cell coverage if any. but that is from my meager understanding of signal power

    if youre sailing along an uninhabited beach i doubt you will find any signal but in contrast if your sailing across florida beach you should have service pretty far out.

    im sorry if my response is unhelpfull but i doubt you will find many people with your same problem.
